The 19th Annual Jay County Heritage Festival will be held Saturday, September 23, and
Sunday, September 24, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the museum and museum grounds. We
will be saluting all Jay County law enforcement personnel. Admission is free!
Although the blacksmith cannot attend, Scottie Teegarden with his tipi will be set up at the north side of the grounds. Others will have displays outside, along with the many displays inside the museum, including items on loan from law enforcement agencies. John Lindsey, who has been unable to attend for several years, will be here demonstrating the spinning of yarn.
Crafters will be selling their goods, and some will be demonstrating their crafts. A wide range of items will be available for purchase, including needlework, handsewn creations, paintings, maple syrup, honey, and birdhouses. Mums, apples, and other produce will be available at the south end of the grounds.
For the kids, Miss Abigail (Jodi McKee) will be holding class in our one-room school in the middle of the museum. Free activities for children will be in the large tent toward the back of the grounds.
Cindi Lambert will be here offering free rides around the neighborhood in her horse-drawn wagon. Parking will be available nearby and at East Elementary School with golf carts providing shuttle service.
And, no festival is complete without food! New this year are pulled pork sandwiches.
