When Indiana celebrated its 200th birthday in 2016, each county was given a bison to decorate. After touring the county, Jay County’s bison found a permanent home in front of the Jay County Historical Museum.
The bison had faded from the sun and is being given a facelift this summer. Muralist and Jay County resident Marie McKinley painted the bison, using the same Jay County symbols which have graced him for the last ten years.
Marie just finished painting the large mural on the Community Resource Center and also did a large mural on a shed owned by her late father, R.D. Houser, at the corner of U.S. 27 and CR 400 N, marking the site of Antiville.
We thank Marie for repainting our bison and marvel at her artistic ability. Drive by the museum and see the finished bison.
