Jay County was organized in 1836 and was named in honor of John Jay, the first Chief Justice of the United Stated Supreme Court. Our county is the only Jay County in the United States.
The committee planning the 17th Annual Heritage Festival, which will be held on Saturday and Sunday, September 28 and 29, has chosen to honor our country as the "Only JAY in the USA" during this year's event. We will be celebrating those things that have made Jay County what we know it as today.
The best part of the weekend is that admission to the festival grounds and all of the entertainment and activities are free of charge. We want this to be a place where families can come to enjoy a fall weekend.
If you know of someone who is interested in being a vendor of handmade items for our festival, have them contact the museum at 260/726-7168, or Maria Hiatt at 260/726-4562.
