JCHS applied for a Heritage Support Grant. This grant is provided by the Indiana Historical Society and made possible by the Lilly Endowment Inc. The grants are for projects that help local history organizations meet needs in various areas.
JCHS is requesting $20,000 for the following projects:
1. Replace the museum’s six computers and backup system, including two laptop computers. 2. Replace two older flatbed scanners.
3. Replace an obsolete copy machine in the genealogy library.
4. Purchase a video camera for filming virtual tours, programs, and interviews.
5. Purchase a 65 inch flatscreen television and an audio system for the meeting room.
If we receive the grant funds, we are required to raise 15%, or $3,000, in matching funds, which cannot be taken out of our general fund. Donations toward this $3,000 will be accepted at any time.
If JCHS does not receive the grant funding, donations will be used for as many of the projects as funds allow. We must definitely replace our computers and backup system. The total for this, not including laptops, is about $8,500. As we have volunteers helping digitize, index, and make data bases of material, all six computers are being used.
We thank you in advance for any donations toward this project. Please mark them as “grant match” when remitting checks to the museum.
